My early years were filled with adventure and learning. I became a stage hand for Robert Zinga, a Tacoma magician specializing in dove magic, and through him I learned the art of animal care and stagecraft. I later teamed up with a juggler friend by the name of Scott Thompson, under the act TJ and Thompson.When I performed solo, I carried on the name by introducing audiences to my dove, also name Thompson. These experiences gave me not only technical skill but also a foundation in collaboration, improvisation, and showmanship.

Magic eventually took a step back as I pursued other creative avenues, but performance never left my life. While living on coastal Oregon during the early ’90’s to mid 2000’s I performed off and on with the Coaster Theatre, as well as other stages on the North Oregon coast as far as Astoria, down south to Tillamook, taking on roles as a performer, director, and even lighting designer. These experiences in theater enriched my approach to magic, sharpening my sense of storytelling, timing, and connection with an audience.

Today, as The Magic of TJ, I bring all of that history; magic, theater, and a passion for performance into my shows. While blending comedy and magic I focus on creating moments that feel personal, inclusive, and unforgettable. As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I bring authenticity and representation to every performance, ensuring audiences feel seen, celebrated, and part of the magic.
